My journey into acupuncture
My path to acupuncture
During these treatments, I increasingly noticed that the underlying cause of a health complaint is not always located where the symptoms are felt. This insight ultimately led me to pursue a three-year bachelor’s degree in Classical Acupuncture, which I complemented with a year of Western Medical Basic Knowledge.
Quality and development
I am affiliated with the Dutch Acupuncture Association (NVA). The NVA is a professional organisation committed to maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism within acupuncture in the Netherlands. To remain registered, I complete accredited continuing education and refresher courses every year. This allows me to keep expanding my knowledge and stay up to date with the latest developments in both traditional Chinese medicine and regular healthcare.
For me, learning never stops. I enjoy continuing to develop my skills so I can provide my clients with the best possible care.
Why traditional Chinese medicine appeals to me
What draws me to Traditional Chinese Medicine is its holistic understanding of health and wellbeing. Not from individual symptoms, but from the body as a whole.
Headaches, hormonal complaints, fatigue or stress are not viewed as separate problems, but as signals that may be connected. I find it interesting to identify and understand those connections. That is why during a treatment I take the time to look beyond the complaint that someone comes in with.
My special interest
Within my practice, my main areas of interest are women’s health, headaches, migraines and stress.
For my graduation thesis, I researched the uterus and its role within traditional Chinese medicine. Since then, I have continued to deepen my knowledge of hormonal health, the menstrual cycle and menopause.
I also regularly see people with headaches, migraines and stress-related complaints, which are issues I have experienced myself. Because I know how much these complaints can affect daily life, I find it especially meaningful to support people with them.
Calmness and personal attention
Meditation has played an important role in my life for many years. Together with my background in Reiki, it helps me stay fully present and focused during treatments.
Clients often describe me as calm, attentive and intuitive. I take the time to listen to your story and believe it is important that you feel heard and comfortable. Based on a thorough assessment, we explore together what your body needs to experience greater health and balance.
