Acupuncture for hormonal balance

More balance in your hormones, more room to feel like yourself

Perhaps you have noticed that your body is responding differently than usual. You may feel more irritable, sleep less well, or experience emotions more intensely than before. Or perhaps you are going through menopause and experiencing hot flushes, night sweats or fatigue.

Hormonal changes are a natural part of different stages of life. At the same time, hormonal symptoms can have such an impact on your energy, mood and daily life that you start looking for support.

Acupuncture for hormonal health may help support the body in restoring balance. At Midi Acupuncture in The Hague, we explore together what your body needs to experience greater calm, balance and wellbeing.

Acupuncture for hormonal health in The Hague

The female body is constantly changing. During the reproductive years, pregnancy and menopause, hormonal changes naturally take place. Most of the time, the body adapts on its own, but sometimes this balance can be disrupted and symptoms may arise.

Within traditional Chinese medicine, hormonal symptoms are not viewed as isolated issues, but as signals that the body has fallen out of balance. That is why I do not only look at the hormones themselves, but at the body as a whole. Factors such as sleep, stress, energy levels, emotions, nutrition, the menstrual cycle and digestion can all influence how you feel.

Every woman is different, and so is every treatment at Midi Acupunctuur in The Hague. By taking the time to listen to your story and explore what your body needs, we create the space to gradually restore balance.

What can you expect from a treatment?

During your first appointment, we take the time to gain a thorough understanding of your hormonal symptoms and overall health. We discuss when your symptoms started, how they affect you, and the impact they have on your daily life. We also look at factors such as your energy levels, sleep, stress, digestion, and, where relevant, your menstrual cycle.

Through tongue and pulse diagnosis, I gain a more complete picture of what is happening in your body. I then explain the patterns I see, what may have become out of balance, and how these may be connected to your symptoms. Based on this, we create a personalised treatment plan together.

Because hormonal symptoms often develop gradually, the body usually needs time to restore balance as well. For this reason, we generally start with weekly treatments. As your symptoms improve, we gradually reduce the frequency of your appointments. Throughout your treatment journey, we regularly assess your progress and adapt the treatment to what your body needs at that particular time.

Why I specialise in hormonal health

What I find fascinating about treating hormonal symptoms is that no two women are the same. Two women may both experience hot flushes, fatigue or mood swings, while the underlying cause from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective can be entirely different.

That is why I take the time to look beyond the symptoms themselves. I listen to your story, explore the patterns that may be present in your body, and tailor the treatment to what you need at that particular moment. It is this personal approach that makes every treatment unique.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, many women choose acupuncture when they are experiencing hormonal symptoms such as PMS, mood swings, fatigue, hormonal headaches or a feeling of hormonal imbalance. Based on this, we create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your body and your situation.

This varies from person to person. Some people notice improvement quickly, while more long-standing symptoms may require more time. During the first consultation, we will discuss what you can expect.

Perimenopause is the transitional phase leading up to menopause, during which hormone levels gradually begin to change. This phase can last several years and is often accompanied by symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, sleep difficulties and mood swings.

Menopause is one specific point within this transition: your final menstrual period. Menopause is officially reached when you have gone twelve consecutive months without a menstrual period.

Yes, acupuncture can often be combined with conventional healthcare. If you are using hormone therapy or other medication, or are receiving treatment from a GP or gynaecologist, this will naturally be taken into account. Acupuncture is intended as a complementary treatment and is not a replacement for regular medical care.

This depends on your individual situation and symptoms. During an initial consultation, we take the time to explore this in detail.

If you are unsure, please feel free to get in touch. I am happy to discuss your situation and think along with you.
